A Solid Waste Solution – The Regional District of Kitimat Stikine’s implementation of a comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan changes the way garbage is managed, and involves the diversion of more waste out of landfills. This is consistent with the community’s desire to protect fish and wildlife, to extend the life span of costly facilities, and to reduce the environmental impacts.

The new Kitwanga Transfer Station allows the closure of the landfill. This unique facility was designed by McElhanney Consulting Services and Sperling Hansen.
