The Kluane First Nation in Burwash Landing needed in-door space for winter recreation. Located at mile 1093 on the Alaska Highway, north of Whitehorse, in the Yukon along the southern shore of Kluane Lake, the region is characterized by extremes of elevation, including some of the highest mountains in Canada, extreme temperature, ranging from -62C to +32C, low precipitation, wind and widespread permafrost.
A challenging environment – but one where a MegaDome® engineered fabric covered structure was the ideal choice. The facility is suitable for a variety of functions, including in-door ice skating.
